Dr Saad Al-Khalaf
Dr Saad Al-Khalaf, a highly experienced consultant general psychiatrist, based in Guildford, Surrey. He also covers a portion of Hampshire and London. He specializes in the treatment of chronic mental illness and psychiatry for older adults. He has a special interest in organic psychopathology, anxiety and depression (especially treatment-resistant depression) as well as memory impairments, including dementia. He is also extremely interested in mental capacity assessments.
He graduated as a doctor in the year 1971. He then completed a general medical rotation at St Charles, St George, and the Maudsley Hospitals in London. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and has worked as private psychiatrist in the area since the year 2005.
He currently works at the Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital and the Priory Hospital in Woking. He does not have a paid position, and he has no shares or financial stakes in the equipment utilized by this hospital or any other Nuffield Health hospital.
Dr. Jennifer Laidlaw
Jennifer Laidlaw completed her MD at the University of British Columbia (UBC) prior to finishing her residency in Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. She was involved in medical education during her residency and has presented and published at international conferences on topics like delirium screening social media, and professionalism. She began her career at Surrey Memorial Hospital as the Head Consultation Liaison (CL), the Psychiatry Department. Her primary focus was creating a flourishing, highly collaborative CL service that provided psychotherapy to patients in the medical and surgical units, including Palliative and Oncology Units. She was also awarded a Facilities Engagement grant to create guidelines on how to manage vulnerable patients in the hospital.
She is the Provincial Practice Leader for Psychiatry at BC Cancer, Clinical Associate Professor at UBC and Past-President of the BC Psychiatric Association. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine and an adjunct faculty member in the UM PM&
